Spoiler: You don’t need a big promo to stay top of mind.
We’ve all been there: You wrapped up a launch, took a well-earned breather, and suddenly…your email list hasn’t heard from you for three weeks (or, oops, three months). 😬
If you’re not launching a new offer or running a flash sale, it’s easy to assume you’ve got “nothing” to say.
But your audience isn’t only here for the sales—they’re here for you. And keeping them engaged in the off-season? That’s the secret to a healthy, high-converting list when launch time does roll around.
Here are 5 kinds of emails you can send when you’re not actively selling—so you stay top of mind and top of inbox.
Your audience wants the real you, so let’s show them who you are! Consider writing an email that pulls back the curtain on a client project, a business shift, a workflow tweak, or a personal win.
Why it works: People love to feel like insiders. Letting them into your world builds trust and keeps your brand feeling relatable (without having to share your deepest diary entries).
What’s one question your clients always ask you? Turn it into a quick tip, checklist, quick win, or how-to.
Why it works: Educational content positions you as an expert while keeping your audience engaged between launches. Bonus points if your tip naturally leads back to your service or offer!
Pick a client’s testimonial, review, or customer experience, and share the story behind it—what your client needed, what you delivered, and what happened next.
Why it works: It’s social proof and storytelling in one. Plus, it reminds your audience what’s possible when they hire you, without the hard sell.
Pull a snippet from a blog post, podcast, or Instagram carousel, and repackage it for your email list. You don’t need to reinvent the wheel to stay consistent!
Why it works: Working smarter > working harder. We all have created content that can be repurposed and given new life!
One of my favorite ways to create content is to ask or answer a question. Whether you poll your list, share a question you have and invite replies, or crowdsource ideas from your audience, make it conversational and low-stakes.
Here are a few examples:
- “What’s your biggest struggle when it comes to [your niche]?”
- “Are you team summer slow down or summer hustle?”
- “What’s one personal or professional goal you have this quarter?”
Why it works: Emails like these build connection and help you gather voice-of-customer data you can use in future emails and offers.
Even when you’re not selling, sending emails like these to your list means that you’re still showing up—and that builds brand equity your competitors can’t fake.
