Everyone just LOVES to talk about email subject lines and open rates…but do you know what really makes or breaks your launch?
The copy inside the dang email.
The kind that moves your reader from “maybe later” to “take my money.”
First, a tiny pep talk: emails aren’t just “Hey, besties!” notes. They’re tiny digital salespeople, quietly (or not-so-quietly) doing the heavy lifting of warming up leads, building trust, and inviting the sale.
If you’ve ever stared at a blinking cursor wondering why your sales email sequence isn’t converting—even though your offer is legit (because of course it is)—then keep reading. These email copywriting best practices are your first step toward sharper, sassier sales emails that work.

If the subject line doesn’t stop the scroll, the rest of the email doesn’t stand a chance. “Big news!” or “Exciting update!” doesn’t cut it—your reader is already swimming in a sea of unread messages, and they’re only opening the ones that demand their attention.
The Smart Fix:
Use curiosity, specificity, or urgency to your advantage. Think:
Give people a reason to pause, hover, and click. Make the subject line a promise—and then deliver on it inside!
Telling your audience that your offer will change their life is fine…until it starts to sound like every other sales email they’ve seen hit their inbox.
The Smart Fix:
Use specific results, testimonials, screenshots, or mini-case studies to show what your offer can do.
Before you balk, let me tell you this: you don’t need an entire blog post—sometimes a single sentence like, “After one week inside the membership, Lindsay booked her first client in months,” is enough to get the point across.
Remember: specificity sells, and nothing builds trust like real-world wins!
You don’t need to pitch in the first line of your email, but if you’re four paragraphs deep and still haven’t mentioned your offer, we’ve got a problem.
Warm-up emails are important—but too much warming can leave your reader lukewarm.
The Smart Fix:
Every email should lead toward a clear next step. That doesn’t mean every one is a hard sell, but even your softer emails should reinforce the transformation, benefits, and invitation.
Try this mantra: “No email should leave your reader wondering, ‘What now?’”
